A Moment of Friction is a modern approach to a classic arcade style game. From concept to design and all throughout development our focus was on providing the player with an exciting and fun experience that is both challenging and rewarding. Fast paced gameplay, freedom of movement, and plenty of replayability made this all possible, allowing us to engage and immerse players within A Moment of Friction.
Move fast, increase that score, dodge terrible things, and use your special abilities to make your way safely and quickly through each level without getting killed. How you play is up to you but whatever you do, don’t get caught up in A Moment of Friction.
The game features fast paced action that revolves around avoiding obstacles, completing a level before the time runs out, and finishing each level with the highest score you can achieve. Players are granted two abilities that assist them in maneuvering about the courses. Left click or mouse 1 allows the players to charge in the direction that they’re facing and at a very great speed. Right click or mouse 2 allows players to dilate time, in turn slowing down objects, reducing the player’s speed, and granting increased agility while maintaining the player’s perspective of time. Both of these abilities are tied to the player’s energy which is displayed on the HUD. The energy drains slowly when time dilation is used and is drained extremely quickly when the charge ability is being utilized. When neither ability is being used, the energy will recharge. Power ups, tokens, and other collectibles are available for pick up throughout the levels, granting the player with additional health, invulnerability, or higher score multipliers. When the player finishes, depending upon their completion time they are award either a bronze, silver, or gold medal.
